When I first started making gbags, I went to the big chain craft store to find the fabrics. I used a lot of “novelty” fabrics; cats, dogs, sports teams, hobbies, etc. The quality was just OK, and nothing really inspired me. One year I was at a holiday food and gift show and there was a vendor with bees wax wraps who had custom fabric. She told me about Spoonflower. She had created her pattern and they printed it for her! How cool is that?! Well, I don’t have that kind of talent so Spoonflower went unexplored, and I was still uninspired by the fabrics I was using.

Then I found inspiration in two Hawaii based companies, Manuhealii and Simply Sisters. Both clothing & accessories stores, both use Island inspired materials exclusively. Manuhealii will have a release of a fabric and make all their items from that one pattern. That inspired me to use fabrics that really speak to my passion for cleaning up this beautiful earth. I found the artwork on Spoonflower to be exactly what I had been looking for.

gbag uses Spoonflower fabrics exclusively. Independent pattern artists upload their work and I buy it by the yard. The quality is superb and I am supporting other artists!
